Amrita Rao & RJ Anmol On Love, Relationships & Their Book ‘Couple Of Things’

She has been synonymous as Bollywood’s much loved girl next door. But, did you know Amrita Rao’s real life love story with RJ Anmol is something straight out of a reel? Married for nine years now and parents to a two year old boy, the couple have now turned authors with ‘Couple Of Things’.

Amrita Rao admits that the book was husband Anmol’s idea to chronicle their individual journeys, their love story and beyond. Incidentally ‘Couple Of Things’ is also the name of the couples’ YouTube channel, in which the two give fans a glimpse into their life. So, is there a possibility of adapting their book on screen?

“Once I got down to writing it, I realised this was hell of a script and makes such an interesting read. Any good cinema needs a good script and we found that in this journey. There are a lot of details, for the lack of a better word, ‘juice’ in this book, which makes for a good story. The journey had its moments, its interesting and dramatic, deserves space on OTT also, who knows,” says Amrita Rao.

Her husband further adds, “there are moments that we have lived. Girls have a crush on some hero and likewise boys do have a crush on a heroine as well. But, I doubt anyone has the stories we both have to tell and people will get to live the life vicariously they would have wanted to live with their celebrity crush as they read our book.”

Anmol further adds, “I still cant believe am married to her, for me it was love at first sight, though it was difficult to woo her”, he says with a laugh. Amrita and Anmol who have been fiercely guarded about their personal life, was there any apprehension on how much to divulge and how much to not?

“A lot of the book is about our. solo journeys, which was an important part of our lives and shaped us. But, post that we decided we need to go full throttle and share the intimate details about our relationship”, says Amrita. “There are so many intimate details, the cover of the book says it all, its of one of our most private moments,” says Anmol.

It’s endearing to see how husband and wife complete each other’s sentences and are completely in sync with the other. But, how did they manage to keep their relationship so private, especially in an industry where nothing goes unnoticed?

“I feel if you need to keep something private you can, its not that difficult. Anmol and I both managed to keep our relationship out of the public lens, so it just proves if you want to you can. But, each to it their own. If you want people to know about your relationship that’s also good, its a couple’s decision”, says Amrita.

So, who do they think would be best to play their onscreen avatar’s?

“Ayushmann Khurrana would be the best to play Anmol, he has been a RJ, he has a ‘Dilli Ka Launda’ vibe, I can’t think of anyone better than him”, says Amrita.

So who would play her we ask?
“Kriti Sanon, also has a very girl next door vibe and she can bring that out.”

So which their most favourite valentine’s day memory?
Amrita promptly answers, “the first one, he gave me a bunch of flowers. We remember driving from Verosva where I lived to Bandra and from there to Lonavala for a drive.”

So, which is their special song? Anmol says though there are plenty, but their special song is “Ghum Hain Kissi Ke Pyaar Mein.”
