Mere pass maa hai”  is not just a dialogue but is an emotion that has the power to melt even a cold hearted person.

Talking about melting hearts, there are several films that have been made to project a mother’s love for her children and there are films that are inspired from real-life incidents.

Rani Mukherjee starrer film “Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway” is another addition to the list which is based upon the real life story of Sagarika Bhattacharya who moves with her family to Norway for a better life but in an unfortunate turn of events, her children are taken away by Norwegian Child Welfare Services.

While we wait for the film to hit the theaters on March 17th , here are 3 mother centric Bollywood films that will make you cry your eyes out.

MOM

Late actor Sridevi’s last film ‘MOM’ is a heart-wrenching story of a biology teacher Devika, who is in the same school as her step-daughter. The story takes a dark turn as Devika punishes some of her students for sending offensive videos to her daughter Aarya. Soon after, they conspire to take revenge from her by brutally raping her daughter.

The film then leads to Devika seeking justice for her daughter and teaching the  perpetrators a lesson with the help of a detective named DK played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Sridevi’s power packed performance in the film will keep you glued to your screens and how can we forget to mention the storyline which is a box full of  twists and turns that will keep you on edge of your seats.

Salaam Venky

Based on true events, Kajol Starrer ‘Salaam Venky’ is the story of a boy, Venkatesh who suffers a rare disease,Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The film revolves around a mother’s love and dedication towards her son as she does everything in her power to let her son live life to the fullest and her legal fight for euthanasia in order to donate his organs before further muscular degeneration renders them unusable.

If you are planning to watch this film then do not forget to keep a box of tissue papers handy because the beautiful mother-son bond and their emotional story will make you cry your eyes out.

Secret Superstar

A musical drama film that revolves around the life and struggles of a teenage singer-songwriter who turns out to be a YouTube sensation after a video of her goes viral.

Amid living in an orthodox family and an abusive father, Insia contacts a music director Shakti Kumar played by Aamir Khan who wants her to record a song and agrees to help her get her mother divorced.

Her song became a huge hit but little did she know that her father was planning to move to Riyadh and get her married. India’s mother rebels for her daughter’s sake and finally decides to cut-off all ties with her husband and agrees for a divorce.

This film is an emotional rollercoaster with some funny punch lines by Aamir Khan that will make you giggle and sentimental scenes that will make you weep like a baby.
