Biopics seem to be one of Bollywood’s favourite ventures. Especially sports films. From Diljit Dosanjh’s Soorma to Akshay Kumar’s Gold, and forthcoming – Ranveer Singh’s `83, sports films have been among our recent Bollywood releases. Finding a perfect balance between Bollywood romances, another forthcoming sports release is Ajay Devgn’s film on legendary football coach Syed Abdul Rahim.
Backed by producer Boney Kapoor, buzz has it that the film is likely to go on floors in the first week of March. Syed Abdul Rahim was the manager and coach of the Indian National Football team that entered the semifinals of the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Football tournament – making India the only Asian country to get that far in the sport.
Badhaai Ho director Amit Ravindranath Sharma is excited to work with Ajay Devgn, who has a great fondness for football himself. The film is also special for Boney Kapoor, the producer is collaborating with Amit for the second time. The producer is working with Ajay Devgn years after Company.
