Akshay Kumar had a ‘freewheeling conversation’ with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The actor tweeted about the same on his handle, saying it was his privilege to host Narendra Modi for an interview, giving him a break from the campaign trail.
While the whole country is talking elections and politics, here’s a breather. Privileged to have done this candid and COMPLETELY NON POLITICAL freewheeling conversation with our PM @narendramodi . Watch it at 9AM tomorrow via @ANI for some lesser known facts about him! pic.twitter.com/Owji9xL9zn

Akshay Kumar started the conversation on a light note, as he asked the Prime Minister if he liked mangoes. PM Modi got nostalgic about his childhood connect with the fruit, as he used to love eating mangoes as a kid. However, he added that he needed to keep a check on his diet.
Narendra Modi is also active, sometimes even to a fault, on social media; and he is very open about it! He regularly interacts with members of the film industry on various social media platforms, Twitter being the major one. In the interview, he even mentioned his love for memes and Twitter posts. Does he get offended by the way his name is used in these memes? “I look less at Modi; I look at the creativity. The biggest benefit of social media to me is that I can understand the common man’s thoughts,” said the Prime Minister.
So does he follow Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna on Twitter? Yes, he admits. “I follow you and Twinkle Khanna ji on Twitter. From the way she targets me, I understand there must be peace in your family life. All her anger must have been spent on me, and so you must be feeling at peace,” added Modi.
To this, Twinkle Khanna could not help but respond, “I have a rather positive way of looking at this – not only is the Prime Minister aware that I exist but he actually reads my work.”
What is Modiji‘s filmy connect was the next question posed to him by Akshay Kumar. “I used to watch films back in the village.” He has more to add, as he has watched some of these films with the leading actors themselves! “I watched Paa with Amitabh Bachchan and A Wednesday with Anupam Kher when they visited me during my tenure as CM of Gujarat.” However, he hasn’t caught up on any of the latest flicks, as he admits he doesn’t have the time.
Grateful for all the interest shown in my previous tweet but just clarifying in light of some wild speculation, I am not contesting elections.

Akshay Kumar’s interview and the tweet that led up to it had earlier set off speculations about his venturing into politics. However, the actor denied having any such plans. Akshay Kumar was last seen in the film Kesari along with Parineeti Chopra as the leader of the Sikh regiment. He is currently working on his next entertainer Good News with his Aitraaz co-star Kareena Kapoor, as well as Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh.
The interview drove Twitterverse berserk! Check out some of the reactions to the interview:
This conversation between @NarendraModi & @akshaykumar reminds of sm scenes bw Sir @SirPareshRawal & Akshay in movie OMG! Particularly that scene where they were sitting in 'Joola', eating 'Maakhan' & talking with each other. Frankly, friendly & amazing chemistry. #ModiWithAkshay
