Salman Khan had announced his exit from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Inshallah’, post which speculations began doing the rounds about the project being shelved. The project was going to be the first time Alia Bhatt and Salman Khan would have collaborated. The actress spoke about the project at a recent award function, where she said she was looking forward to it happening.
I was very excited to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, of course very excited to work with Salman as well. I believe that sometimes things just happen and it’s not in your control. That way there’s a saying that if you want to make the God laugh then tell him about your plans because plans never really go ‘as per plan’.
But the actress promised that she would work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali soon!
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is also a man of his word, as the director definitely wants Alia Bhatt in his film. And now, reports suggest that the director is keen to cast Alia Bhatt in a story based on the character of Gangubai Kothewali, who was a brothel owner in the area of Kamathipura, which is Mumbai’s red light district. The film is being adapted from the book by S Husain Zaidi’s Mafia Queens Of Mumbai. Earlier, the film was offered to Priyanka Chopra, but the actress could not give her nod to the project as she was busy with other films.
Salman Khan, meanwhile, has clarified in a report that Inshallah has not been shelved. The actor said to ANI, “Currently, Inshallah is not being made. Inshallah will be made but at least not with me.” So who will be cast in Inshallah? Will Alia Bhatt end up playing Gangubai in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial? Well, one can only guess as we await the official announcement!
