Amitabh Bachchan Was All Praises For Rajinikanth At The 50th International Film Festival Of India

The 50th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) has kicked off in Goa today, an eight-day-long affair that will conclude on November 28. The first IFFI was held way back in 1952!

Rajinikanth was honoured with the ‘Icon of Golden Jubilee of IFFI’ for his contribution to arts and cinema.

Earlier, expressing gratitude post the announcement he had tweeted, “I thank the government of India for this prestigious honour bestowed upon me on the golden jubilee of the International film festival of India.”

The film festival’s opening ceremony, being held at Shyama Prasad Stadium, will be hosted by Karan Johar. While 200 movies from 76 countries are expected to be screened during the 50th International Film Festival of India, Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner Amitabh Bachchan’s films will also be screened.

Amitabh Bachchan who was felicitated during the opening ceremony of IFFI 2019, after receiving the award said “Thank you for inviting me to the event and bestowing upon me such a big honour. It is the blessing of my father and mother. I am standing in front of you today because of all the directors, writers, producers and music directors. But I am most grateful to my fans. In all phases of my life, you have supported me. I am indebted to you for all the love. I won’t be able to repay the debt. I don’t want to repay the debt as I would like to keep this love with me always. I thank the Indian government, Goa government and my friend and talented actor Rajinikanth”

Praising Rajinikanth, he continued, “Rajinaikanth is a part of my family. There is lot of back and forth between us. Sometimes I advise Rajinikanth, and at times he advises me. It is a different matter that we don’t listen to each other’s advice. I feel relationships are made of this. Sometimes I tell him not to do something, but he goes ahead and does it. Sometimes he tells me to do something, but I go ahead and do it. Thank you so much Rajini for being with me and being an incredible source of inspiration. Such a humble human being. Came up from such humble beginnings. It is incredible that we have him here with us today, inspiring us every day and night. Thank you so much Rajiniji. Thank you once again, ladies and gentleman. I have no words to express my gratitude to IFFI for honouring me today and for also having a retrospective of my films which should be starting tomorrow. I am grateful that you have chosen me and my films for a retrospective. I hope to see some of you there.”
