Bollywood Celebrities Speak Out On Deepika Padukone’s JNU Visit

Filmmakers Anurag Kashyap and Anubhav Sinha, Deepika’s Chhapaak co-star Vikrant Massey, actresses Bhumi Pednekar, Sonakshi Sinha and Nimrat Kaur were among those who lauded Deepika Padukone’s visit to JNU.

While many celebrities have condemned the brutal act of violence against the students of the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, on social media, actress Deepika Padukone decided to join protesting students to express solidarity with them.

Deepika Padukone, who was  in the Capital to promote her upcoming film Chhapaak, was seen standing amidst the youth as they protested the beating up of students of the said University by a violent mob, on Sunday (January 5) night.

The actor also met with JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh who was injured in the attack on Sunday.

Sonakshi Sinha took to Twitter to share, “No matter which political party you support,do u support violence?Don’t visuals of bleeding students and teachers shake you up?We can’t sit on the fence any longer.Kudos to @deepikapadukone for showing up,& all those who spoke for speaking up.This is not the time to stay quiet.”

Actor Prakash Raj shared an artwork featuring Deepika Padukone’s fierce onscreen characters, and the fearlessness she’s shown in real life.
