Boman Irani Joins Ranveer Singh & Team In Kabir Khan’s ’83

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone are currently in London shooting for Kabir Khan’s ’83. A film chronicling the victory of the “underdogs “, the Indian X1 lead by Kapil Dev who were to change the course of Indian cricket history at the 1983 World Cup. The Kabir Khan directorial boasts of an ensemble cast and the latest to join the cadre is none other than Boman Irani.

The actor has been roped in to play the part of ‘Farokh Engineer’, former wicket keeper-batsman who batted as an opener as well as during the 60’s and early 70’s till his retirement in 1975. Engineer was one of the commentators during the 1983 world cup.

Boman Irani joined the film’s cast at Lord’s to shoot only for a couple of days, the actor will be joining the team soon in Mumbai next. “It’s a great honour to play this legendary character,” he says.

Boman Irani further shared that he met Farokh Engineer to better prepare for his role. “I went to Manchester during the World Cup this year and stayed with him for a few days. We even watched India versus Pakistan match together. It was so surreal; like meeting your boyhood hero. I stayed at his house and we had some good laughs while trying to understand the man for the role”.

Ranveer Singh will be seen playing the ace cricketer Kapil Dev while Deepika Padukone will play his wife Romi Dev. Apart from Boman Irani and the two actors, the film also includes south star Jiva, Ammy Virk, Chirag Patil, Pankaj Tripathi, Sahil Khattar, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Hardy Sandhu and Saqib Saleem among others.

’83 is slated to release on April 10, 2020.
