Deepika Padukone will soon be seen essaying the role of an acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal in Meghna Gulzar’s upcoming film ‘Chhapaak’. The actor will be sharing screen space with Vikrant Massey.
The film wrapped in June with Deepika Padukone describing Chhapaak as “the most precious film of my career”.
The trailer of the film is set to unveil on Human Rights Day, and director Meghna Gulzar thinks ‘it’s a nice coincidence’. “It is actually a nice coincidence that our trailer is getting launched on the 10th of December, which also happens to be – Human Rights Day. Chhapaak is a story of acid violence. I really couldn’t have asked for better synchronicity for the release date of our film,” she was quoted saying to a publication.
On choosing Deepika Padukone to play the character, Meghna Gulzar had earlier told PTI, “Deepika is going to be a revelation in Chhapaak. It is a completely different side of Deepika which people will see. When I say that I don’t mean just the look or prosthetics, it’s also about going into the second level of the character – the body language, the gestures and the general energy.”
“A moment is all it took… Trailer out tomorrow. Keep watching this space… #Chhapaak”, Deepika Padukone had earlier teased her fans and followers.
Rarely do you come across a story where you do not need an entire narration to decide if you want to be a part of a film or not. What is even more rare is to not be able to articulate and put into words what you feel for the film and it’s journey…
