Deepika Padukone has been a strong advocate when it comes to supporting mental health issues – and this time proved no different! The actress was in New York for an event for the Youth Anxiety Centre. She shared a post regarding the event on her Instagram profile as well, talking about the challenges that pose modern society with regard to mental health.
“Mental illness has presented society with a very tough challenge… But my experience with the illness has taught me so much; to be patient for one… but most importantly that there is ‘Hope’!” Deepika Padukone then went on to share another post thanking the head of the centre Anna Wintour for the invite to share her personal struggles. Deepika Padukone was accompanied by the likes of Kendall Jenner at the event, along with other big names in the fashion industry such as Vera Wang.
Deepika Padukone had admitted to her own battle with depression in 2014. The actress encouraged many to share their own struggles to highlight the issue. She founded an NGO by the name of Love Laugh Live Foundation, that is aimed to help people suffering from the disease to speak up and share their feelings, and dispel the stigma that surrounds mental illnesses in general.
