Actress Deepika Padukone, who last turned producer for her film ‘Chhapaak’, will be seen doing so, once again, for the upcoming film Mahabharat, in which she will be seen playing the role of Draupadi. Announcing the film in October 2019, Deepika had shared that she is ‘absolutely thrilled and honoured to be playing the role of Draupadi, and shared that ‘it is the role of a lifetime’.
While the Mahabharata is popularly known for its mythological tales and cultural influence, many of life’s lessons are also derived from the Mahabharata but most often from its men. Telling it with this fresh and new perspective will not only be interesting but also very significant.
In a recent interview to a leading entertainment daily, Deepika revealed that the film is her ‘most ambitious project yet’. She added that the making of Mahabharat will be like no other film, be it the scale of the budget to the costumes.
Deepika Padukone mentioned that it will take ‘five times longer to execute the project’. The film will, reportedly, be divided in several parts and the first part of the movie is slated to release in Diwali 2021. The actress will produce the film in collaboration with Madhu Mantena.
