It’s finally confirmed that Deepika Padukone will be playing ‘reel’ life wife alongside her ‘real’ life husband Ranveer Singh in ’83 the film. Kabir Khan directed ’83: The Film has Ranveer Singh essaying the role of Kapil Dev, who led team India to their historic win against West Indies at the Cricket World Cup in 1983. Deepika Padukone, who is also producing the film, will be seen playing Romi Dev in the film. Deepika Padukone will also be meeting Kapil Dev’s wife Romi Dev before they begin shooting. The eleven member cast who are currently shooting in Scotland, had undergone rigorous training at a camp in Dharamsala and workshops with Kapil Dev, Madan Lal and Mohinder Amarnath who were part of the Indian X1 at the 1983 World Cup.
Ranveer Singh had also shared a post with the cast and crew of ’83, captioning it as ‘Kapil’s Devils’. ’83 also stars s Pankaj Tripathi, Harrdy Sandhu, Saqib Saleem, Ammy Wirk amongst others. The film is slated to release on 10 April, 2020.
