“Designers Refused To Dress Me For Cannes” Vijay Varma
A true fashion monger and one of the finest talents of the Indian film industry, Vijay Varma is setting the Cannes red carpet on fire with his killer looks and impeccable sense of style.
Many people thought that this is the actor’s big Cannes debut but only a few know that this is not the first time that Vijay is attending the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.
Vijay Varma was also a part of the renowned festival a decade ago in the year 2013 for the premiere of his film ‘Monsoon Shootout’.

During a recent interview with Film Companion, the actor opened up about his Cannes debut and how he wore a Zara jacket to the event as no designer was ready to lend him clothes.
Taking a trip down memory lane, Vijay said, “When I came here, I bought one jacket from Zara, which I could afford. But for the main two events, they said you have to wear the whole suit. And I went to people, saying, ‘Can some designer come, can some stylist help me out?’ And they said, ‘Who’s Vijay Varma? We don’t want to dress anybody.’” He further added, “So, a friend of mine gifted me a Zara suit, which I wore for the morning photo call. And somebody stitched me a tuxedo for the red carpet. That’s how I went.”

When he was asked what was going inside him when he had to encounter a situation like this, he promptly said, “I didn’t know any of it. Really. It was stupid of me…naive of me to ask. And, it was equally understandable why it didn’t come through.”
The actor who is walking the Cannes red carpet as a part of the Indian delegation at the festival will soon be seen in Kareena Kapoor Khan and Jaideep Alhawat starrer film ‘Devotion of Suspect X’.
