Dia Mirza is making her digital debut with the series ‘Kaafir’, alongside popular television actor Mohit Raina. In an interview with GoodTimes, she revealed the time when she blanked out on set while shooting for her film ‘Sanju’ alongside actor Ranbir Kapoor.
When Dia Mirza was asked what she would do in the sticky situation where she would come on set having learnt her lines and then blank out, she revealed that this has actually happened with her! She was working with Ranbir Kapoor in their film Sanju, and it was her first day of work alongside the actor. She guiltily admitted that it happened to her, in spite of the fact that she has been around in the industry for longer than him! Said Dia Mirza in the interview-
It could happen to the best of us! For the first 15 minutes I was like, I have no idea what I have to say, I have no idea what I have to do. And then of course you calm your nerves and then everything comes back to normal.
So Mirza, who has been in the industry for almost two decades got affected to that extent by Ranbir Kapoor? Dia Mirza admitted-
He did, he’s just exceptional. Absolutely exceptional. He’s my favourite actor.
But why precisely does Dia have this opinion about Kapoor?
It’s hard to internalize, and then be so nonchalant about it. He looks like he’s totally effortless. But the kind of effort he puts into what he does is amazing.
Dia Mirza’s character tracks the journey of Kainaaz, a young Pakistani woman who is unable to get home. She finds hope in Mohit Raina, who plays a lawyer in the film and helps her on her mission. Talking about the preparation needed for her character, Mirza said –
I had to make sure I understood what that really was, as well as I could. So to do a good amount of research on geopolitical issues, social issues. But also to understand how people live in Pakistan occupied Kashmir, what is their daily life like. How they escape shelling and go back to doing whatever it is that they were doing like nothing happened. It’s a remarkable kind of life to have, and to live in.
With the current socio-political context, Mirza feels it’s important that such series are being made and she is glad to be a part of it.
I feel as people we tend to fall short and protect ourselves a little bit from going to places even in our everyday lives. And as an artist, in this part, I wanted to go all the way.
Kaafir, starring Mohit Raina and Dia Mirza releases on June 15.
