Chuck Russell is known for his screenwriting abilities and directorial prowess in films such as ‘The Mask’ and ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’. The director has even been credited of lending a hand to the careers of famous Hollywood actors such as Dwayne Johnson and Cameron Diaz with his films. His first ever venture into directing a Bollywood film is the Vidyut Jammwal-starrer ‘Junglee’.
In a recent interview with GoodTimes, Chuck Russell was asked about his tryst with Bollywood and whether there are any Bollywood films that the director has previously watched. His answer to this was – Raazi!
Raazi blew my mind. The young lady’s performance was very powerful.
While Junglee stars the action-guru Vidyut Jammwal in the lead role, the film also marks the debut of two young actresses – Pooja Sawant and Asha Bhat. Though Pooja has worked earlier in a few Marathi films, Asha is entirely new to the industry and has entered after a successful stint in modelling.

Starting my Bollywood journey with one of the world’s best in the craft is the best thing I have earned . Walking into the journey of unknown for the love of acting ,being in front of the camera ,growing through all the rejections , naysayers, days of feeling defeated and rising up again with hope and smile and in the end it was totally worth the wait. This is a kind of debut I never imagined. Having Chuck Russell as my first mentor/ Guru in the field of acting has been a phenomenal experience. He has guided me like a father figure from day 1 and I couldn’t have asked for more . I am so thankful to have worked with skilled artists who bring out the best in me 🙏🙏🙏 Inching closer to Friday 😃 Junglee releases on 29th March Advance booking open now !! @jungleemovie @jungleepictures #junglee #jungleemovie #29thmarch #advancebooking #bejunglee #chuckrussell #director
So are there any other performances that Chuck Russell has savoured from the Bollywood film industry? Here’s the director’s answer!
Over the past I’ve enjoyed Aamir Khan’s films. These are performances that transcend language. So I’ve always enjoyed that.
The film is releasing on April 5, and is of the action-entertainment genre.
