“As you usher in the new year, keep the lights on. Trust me. #GhostStories on Netflix, January 1st 2020,” wrote Karan Johar on Twitter. The filmmaker shared a video with the four directors in it, including himself, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Bannerjee and Anurag Kashyap. The directors introduced the concept of Ghost Stories to the audiences, saying that it was about ‘things that were not really human’.

Just like Lust Stories, the film will be a four-part mini series with four different plots, starring different characters and directed by different directors but centered around one common theme. The respective directors of Ghost Stories gave hints about the plots of their respective stories. Karan Johar said, “I don’t think I can look at big fat weddings the same way again.” Zoya Akhtar revealed, “Innocent kindergarten rhymes are sending me running,” and Anurag said, “bird songs don’t sound sweet anymore.” Finally, Dibakar Bannerjee gave away, “Strange fascination and a craving for a certain kind of food!”

The series stars actors Sobhita Dhulipala, Janhvi Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur. The actors shared snippets of their roles in Ghost Stories, and asked viewers to stay tuned for more!

Team Lust Stories had recently gone to New York to attend the International Emmy’s. The series had won a nomination for the Best TV Movie/Mini-Series category at the 47th edition of the awards. Though they lost finally and couldn’t win the award, the nomination was a big win for the directors and the entire cast and crew!

Ghost Stories streams on Netflix on January 1, 2020 at 12:00am.
