After Winning Big At International Film Festivals, ‘Gully Boy’ Gets A Japan Release

A country which is known to have a craze for Rajinikanth films, is now set to get a hip-hop flavour! Zoya Akhtar’s film ‘Gully Boy’ will be releasing across theatres in Japan. The director herself is in the country for the film’s premiere.

Gully Boy has been a regular at International Film Festivals, it had its World premiere at the Berlin Film Festival in January 2019 . The film won the best film award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM), and was also screened for audiences at Melbourne. It struck a chord with audiences and critics back home, and its track Apna Time Aayega achieved anthem-like status.

Gully Boy was based on the lives of real hip-hop stars Divine and Naezy. The film had Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles, along with Kalki Koechlin and Siddhant Chaturvedi who made his debut with the film.
