There were ninety-one films competing for ten spots in the International Feature Film category in the award nominations. Only ten could make it to the final shortlist, among which Gully Boy was not present.
This was obviously a disappointment for producers Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar as well the entire Gully Boy cast and crew, who had been actively promoting the Oscar campaign for the film, since it was announced as India’s official entry to the Oscars 2020, in September.
