Zoya Akhtar directorial Gully Boy has won the NETPAC Award for the Best Asian Film at the 2019 edition of the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Fesitival (BIFAN). Ranveer Singh, who played the lead role in the film, posted an Instagram story about the same; as did director Zoya Akhtar.
Ranveer Singh used the phrase from the film in his Instagram story, “Boht Hard” which is also a popular phrase used among hip-hoppers. He also put a sticker in the story that said “Apna Time Aayega”. Zoya Akhtar, too, posted a story about the same, thanking the BIFAN committee and giving a shout out to the ‘bestest cast and most amazing crew’ of the film.

Gully Boy is based on the lives of real street rappers Divine and Naezy, and had Ranveer Singh in the lead role as Murad along with Alia Bhatt who played Safeena. The Zoya Akhtar film had won hearts all over, including critic’s appreciation and good audience reviews alike. The slogans from the film “Apna Time Aayega” and “Bohot Hard” had become catchphrases for the youth at the time of the film’s release in February 2019, and continue to be so even today.
