Honey Singh On His ‘Second Innings’: Good Things Unfold On Their Own

Hirdesh Singh aka Honey Singh had created a huge rage with his sensational Punjabi hip hop songs, so much so that filmmakers wanted to have a ‘Honey Singh song’ in their films. Missing not only from the silver screen, the singer took a break even from his singles. He made his come back with ‘Makhna’ in late 2018. And just won his very first IIFA for best music direction in the ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ song ‘Dil Chori’.

Talking about how feels about the big achievement, he says “Amazing! Log bolte hain humai award se farak nahi padhta, lekin ek artist se pucha jaye toh award se bohot farak padhta hai. Mujhe bohot khushi ho rahi hai.” Honey Singh is extremely delighted. He nostalgically adds that whilst watching the annual award show for the first time, when he was a nobody, he never thought he would win one 19 years after.

In an interview, he had opened up about his struggle with bipolar disorder and alcoholism, saying that he disclosed so because his fans and well-wishers deserve to know the real reason behind his absence.

Narrating the start of his second innings to GoodTimes, Honey Singh who calls himself quite a man of precision says, “Come back hua mera gaana Makhna se.” Adding that he prepared for the song for 10 months, “Kyunki I made the song on Latin american beat”, he reveals, “I went to Cuba, jahan koi nai jaata, wahan humne shoot kiya, taaki south american vibes mile.” Honey Singh then went on to deliver music for Kartik Aaryan starrer Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, and alongside Malkit Singh’s voice in Gur Nalo Ishq Mitha that featured in Sonam Kapoor’s Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga.

“It’s a lot of struggle”, he says talking about his come back. Honey Singh feels ‘if you plan your moves it’s like a plastic structure but if you go with the flow, good things unfold on their own’.
