“I Was Told NO MALE Star Wants To Work With…” – Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka Chopra is making waves in Hollywood. The actor is busy promoting her upcoming web-series Citadel in which she will be seen playing the role of Nadia, who is a spy.
While the actor has been very vocal about her thoughts and the negative experiences she had while she was working in Bollywood with Indian actors and directors, she reflected on the negative chatter around her when she signed on to do Fashion, directed by Madhur Bhandarkar.

In an interview with Prajakta Koli, Priyanka Chopra said that her decision to do the film was met with its share of raised eyebrows. She openly talked about how she didn’t have people waiting to work with her, and that she had to take the bull by the horns herself. “It took a lot of fighting, and saying that, ‘Theek hai, main chhoti film karungi agar mere balboote pe hoga, par ache se karungi (I’ll do a small film, but I’ll do it well).’ Like Fashion.” She said that people told her female actors only do films like this at the end of their careers, or when no male star wants to work with them anymore.

She said, “Jab maine Fashion ki, mujhe kitne saare logon ne bola tha, uss zamane mein, ke ‘Yeh toh heroine apne career ke end mein karti hain jab unko National Award chahiye hota hai. Heroine apne career ke end mein filmein apne shoulder pe leti hain kyunki unko heroes ke saath kaam nahi mil raha hota hai (When I did Fashion, people told me that female actors only do solo films like this at the end of their careers, when they want to win awards and because no male hero wants to work with them). I was just three-four years into movies when I did Fashion, and everyone told me that I wouldn’t get another job if this film fails. I didn’t know any better.”

Priyanka Chopra also talked about how in her early 20s people from the film industry would tell her that heroes aren’t willing to work with actresses who are in their late 20s and 30s. In an exclusive interview with GOODTiMES, she said, “I was told when I was really young, in my 20s actually that once you leave your 20s, heroes don’t want to work with you, you know you are too old for heroes in your 30s even though they are in their 40s and 50s.”

She added, “Even the management used to tell me young ladki chahiye. I would have never believed that I am starting the beginning of my career in Hollywood in my 40s as a leading lady.”
Priyanka Chopra has established herself as one of the leading celebrities in Hollywood. The actor is busy promoting Citadel and her upcoming film Love Again. She is also working on Jee Le Zara which stars Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt. The film will be directed by Farhan Akhtar and is set to go on floors next year.
