Javed Akhtar Calls Kangana Ranaut ‘Unimportant’. Here’s Why

The ‘Queen’ of Bollywood has turned out to be the queen of ‘controversy’.

Soon after preparing a list of deserving films and performances, the actor has now become the talk of the town as she heaped praises on poet-lyricist Javed Akhtar for talking about the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. 

For the uninitiated, Javed Akhtar took the internet by storm as he spoke about the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attack at the ‘Faiz Festival’ in Lahore last week and said, “Let us not blame each other. That won’t solve issues. Jo garam hai fiza, woh kam honi chahiye. Hum toh Bambaiye log hain. Hamne dekha wahan kaise hamla hua tha. Wo log Norway se toh nahi aaye the naa Egypt se aaye the, wo log abhi bhi aapke mulk me ghum rahe hain. Toh ye shikayat agar Hindustani ke dil mein ho toh aapko bura nahi manna chahiye.”

He further talked about how Pakistan closed their hearts for Indian artists and said, “When Faiz Sahab visited, he was received like a very important visitor. It was broadcast all over. We hosted big functions of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Mehdi Hasan. You never organised a function for Lata Mangeshkar?”

Soon after Kangana Ranaut took to her Twitter handle to praise Javed Akhtar for his remark and shared a video clip from the festival and captioned it as, “Jab main Javed saab ki poetry sunti hoon toh lagta tha yeh kaise Maa Swarsati ji ki in pe itni kripa hai, lekin dekho kuch toh sachchai hoti hai insaan mein tabhi toh khudai hoti hai unke saath mein … Jai Hind @Javedakhtarjadu saab… Ghar mein ghuss ke maara .. haha”

Well, Kangana might be showering praises, it looks like Javed sahab was in no mood to entertain her and during a recent interview when he was asked about Kangana’s comment, he said, “I don’t consider Kangana important so how can she make an important remark. Forget about her. Chaliye aage”. 

As a matter of fact, this is not the first time that the two celebrities got into a banter. Before this in November 2020, Javed Akhtar filed a defamation case against Kangana Ranaut for dragging his name in actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide case and for calling him a ‘Bollywood coterie’. 

The episode didn’t just end there, later Kangana filed a counter case against him for alleged “extortion and criminal intimidation”.
