John Abraham Was Offered ‘Rockstar’ Before Ranbir Kapoor?
Whenever we think of Ranbir Kapoor’s best performances, ‘Rockstar’ is a film that pops in our mind and still tops the list of the actor’s best acts. Little do you know that Ranbir wasn’t director Imtiaz Ali’s first choice for the role of Janardhan Jhankar but it was the ‘Pathaan’ actor John Abraham.
Yes you read it right!
During a recent fan interaction, the ‘Tu Jhoothi Mai Makkar’ actor Ranbir Kapoor revealed that initially it was John Abraham who was supposed to play Jordan in the film and at that time Imtiaz Ali met with him for a film on marketing.

While sharing the anecdote, Ranbir said, “When Imtiaz came to me, he offered me some other film, which was something about marketing. And I remembered that before I became an actor, I had heard that John Abraham was doing Rockstar but that did not happen and it got shelved, I don’t know for what reason.”
While recalling an old incident, Ranbir Kapoor talked about reminding Imtiaz about ‘Rockstar and asking him what happened to the film to which he said, “So he said that the guy who wrote the story for Rockstar, he himself wanted to direct and act in it so for that reason he did not make the film. Anyway we decided to part ways and three months later, he told me that he spoke to that guy. So that’s how Rockstar happened.”

The 2011 film that stars Ranbir Kapoor, Nargis Fakhri, Aditi Rao Hydari, Shammi Kapoor, Piyush Mishra, and Sanjana Sanghi proved to be a huge hit and its impeccable songs still hit the right notes.
