The Abhishek Varman-directorial has broken all opening box office records of 2019! ‘Kalank’, the multi-starrer period drama, released on April 17. The film has opened at a net of Rs. 21.6 crores on day one!

Kalank has surpassed all opening box office numbers of all the films that had previously set the records quite high. In the year 2019, there was the Akshay Kumar-starrer Kesari which topped the charts at Rs. 21.06 crores. Gully Boy, directed by Zoya Akhtar came in a close second at Rs. 19.40 crores. Total Dhamaal, which was a comedy entertainer with an ensemble cast was third on the charts with an opening day number of Rs. 16.50 crores. However, Kalank has topped all three and how!

Kalank is also expected to gain momentum at the box office once the long weekend sets in, because of it being a holiday for the occasion of Good Friday. The final verdict of the film will only be out once the weekend is over. Kalank has also set some records at the International box office, as it has beat the likes of Padmaavat and Dangal in the United Kingdom and Australia markets.
