After all that talk about when Karan Johar’s ‘Takht’ will go on floors, there finally seems to be some clarity. According to sources, the period drama based on the Mughal-era will go on floors in February.
Karan Johar’s magnum opus Takht, which is a story inspired by the Mughal era rulers, will require heavy investment in pre-production. The technical team is currently focused on the sets and the locations, as well as finalising the script. Research is also going on about the diction and mannerisms of the characters. A source tells a leading entertainment portal that work on the visual effects will take place simultaneously so that the shoot and film are both ready in time. Here’s what the source was quoted saying –
The film kicks off in February with a start-to-finish schedule. Moreover, Karan will also be conducting workshops for the cast so as to make it easy for them to get into the skin of the character. Everyone has a distinct look. While Anil will have to put on some extra kilos, Ranveer and Vicky will have to look lean and mean.
Takht is not the first period film that Ranveer Singh has worked upon. He has previously worked in films like Bajirao Mastaani, which is why the makers are focusing on making his look different from his previous outings.
Every character has been inspired by history and since Ranveer has dabbled in the genre a few times in the past, from playing Peshwa Bajirao to Alauddin Khilji, the goal is to make him look different from what he has already done.
Takht is a Karan Johar directorial starring Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, and Bhumi Pednekar. The film is slated to release on December 2020.
