If there’s someone who everyone could take notes on balancing work life and family time, it would be her! She has been a judge on a reality show, is doing several films and yet somehow managing to spend time with her little toddler Taimur Ali Khan. Kareena Kapoor Khan sat down to talk with Elle magazine along with stylist-designer Anita Dongre, and the actress spoke about working with Aamir Khan, motherhood, balancing her career and more.
Kareena Kapoor Khan is currently shooting for Lal Singh Chaddha, which is the Hindi adaptation of Tom Hanks’ Oscar-winning film Forrest Gump. She is starring alongside Aamir Khan in the film, who she has previously worked with in Talaash and 3 Idiots. Kareena Kapoor Khan spoke about collaborating with Aamir Khan once again, calling him a ‘cinematic genius’-
The film is very special to me. It’s going to be an absolute honour to be in the same frame as Aamir because I’ve always been a huge fan of him. It’s always been a dream come true to work with him. He is a cinematic genius and sharing a frame with him again would be an absolute dream come true again.
Talking about her cinematic journey in the industry, Kareena Kapoor Khan is surprised to hear that she has completed two decades working as an actor. She feels her profession has impacted her as a person, making her who she is today – successes and failures included.
It’s been an amazing 20 years. It’s been a fabulous journey working with some amazing people. I think I’ve been born to act because I feel that’s where my passion is and I will hopefully act till the end of my life. I believe all my films have made me who I am today. They are all my body of work and a part of me, so I would say as much as my successes, my failures have also made me what I am today.
So was it her own decision to become an actor or was it just something that she did because of her familiar ties with the profession? The actress says her decision to carry on the Kapoor ‘family legacy’ was actually nothing to do with it. Kareena Kapoor Khan said-
Becoming an actor had nothing to do with my family. It was my passion. Contributing to the Kapoor legacy was important, but it was never expected that I had to do it. I wanted to do it.
Kareena Kapoor Khan also says she will give a similar freedom of choice to her son Taimur Ali Khan.
And my son, who knows whether he is going to be an actor or a sportsman? He might even want to be a chef. Whatever it is, Saif and I are going to encourage him, because no child can flourish without support.
However, the actress leaves us on a pensive note, with a thought about the concern for the environment and what we are leaving behind for future generations.
What I worry about the most is what we are leaving behind for our children. For me, the concern today is the environment, and the kind of India my child will have to live in, within the next 30 years. We need to do something about it—and fast, because time is running out.
Kareena Kapoor Khan will next be seen in Good News and Lal Singh Chaddha. The actress is also working with Irrfan Khan in Angrezi Medium.
