Kiara Advani is technically only three films old in Bollywood, with her fourth set to release soon – but she has carved a space for herself in literally no time. The actress spoke to ‘Vogue’ recently, revealing the biggest compliment she thinks she has received.
The actress broke through Bollywood, in spite of never having any direct contacts! She spoke about how the best compliment she received was when someone thought she was from Delhi!
Honestly, the best compliment I ever received was when someone thought I was from Delhi. I was a full Hindi film buff in a school where you were ‘cool’ only if you watched English films. Every time my friends called, I would flip to an English channel; when no one was looking, I was listening to every Govinda song ever and delivering dialogues from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001) on repeat.
Nevertheless, her Bollywood dreams were a far flung thought as the actress made her debut with the film Fugly in 2014, which was a flop. Her film alongside Mahesh Babu, Bharat Ane Nenu, was what catapulted her into the limelight. Talking about the same, Kiara said to Vogue –
It’s like I’ve managed to create a fan base there. At the end of the day, you do it all for the audience. When you’re filming and fans wait all day just for you to look them in the eye and smile, maybe shake your hand, or even just watch you walk over to your vanity van, I feel like I owe them so much more. I hope to do at least one south Indian film a year.
It was a moment of pride for Kiara Advani when her mini-series Lust Stories won a nomination at the International Emmy’s. Further, her film alongside Shahid Kapoor Kabir Singh was one of the highest grossers of 2019. Does Kiara Advani plan to stop or is she raring to go? “I prayed for this day, you know; the day my mum has to call my manager for my dates,” smiled Kiara.
The actress will next be seen in Good Newwz, slated for release on December 27, 2019.
