Manikarnika VS Thackeray: Which Film Is Winning At The Box Office?

‘Manikarnika’ and ‘Thackeray’ are two films that are competing neck-to-neck at the box office. While the Kangana Ranaut-starrer is based on the life of freedom fighter Jhansi ki Rani, Thackeray is about the life of political supremo Bal Thackeray. Both films are period dramas and biopics in their own right, however – their box office numbers tell a different story! Which film do you think is doing better? Find out below.

At the end of Day 3, Thackeray managed to collect Rs. 22.90 crore at the box office. The bilingual biopic, needless to say, is doing the best in Maharashtra with the Marathi version dominating over the Hindi. Well, it’s Bal Thackeray’s home constituency at the end of the day!

Shiv Sena has clearly got a winner in Nawazuddin-starrer as the film outdoes expectations from all stakeholders. Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s performance is also winning critical acclaim, celebrities, directors, and audiences alike!

Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut’s film Manikarnika has benefitted greatly from the word-of-mouth promotions. Based on the Indian freedom struggle for independence, the film about Rani Jhansi’s life is definitely cashing in on patriotic fervour! However, there’s more to the story than meets the eye.

Manikarnika has garnered a box-office collection of more than 50 crore rupees in a week of being released. It is also Kangana Ranaut’s biggest opening film, as tweeted by Taran Adarsh. Another thing that has worked in the film’s favour is the fact that it was released very close to the Indian Republic Day on the 26th of January, thereby invoking strong feelings of nationalism in the audiences.

So, according to current statistics, Manikarnika is the winner of the competition versus Thackeray! Let’s see which one does better in the long run.
