‘Mard Ko Dard’ Vs ‘Kesari’: The Film That’s Ruling The Box Office This Week

Though the two films are diametrically opposite in themes and story lines, they released on the same day. The two films’ box office verdicts, too, are poles apart. Read on.

‘Kesari’, the period-drama based on the 1973 Battle of Saragarhi, stars Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra in the lead roles. Akshay Kumar plays leader of the British Sikh Regiment, Havildar Ishar Singh. The film, according to reports, has cashed in big! It was the biggest opener film of 2019 – surpassing all the previous records held by films such as Gully Boy and Uri: The Surgical Strike.

This could be, according to reports, due to the fact that it released on ‘Holi’ – a holiday in most cities. Within four days of its release, the film has collected Rs. 56.56 crores at the box office.

Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, starring Gulshan Devaiah, Abhimanyu Dassani, and Radhika Madan in lead roles, is an action comedy film. The film is directed by Vasan Bala. Its central protagonist is Surya, played by Abhimanyu Dassani, who is also actress Bhagyashree’s son. Surya, has congenital insensitivity to pain, which makes him immune to pain, a sort of ‘superpower’ that he later proceeds to use to his advantage!

According to reports, the film has released in more theatres abroad than here in India, as shared on Twitter by the lead actor himself. Thus, the exact box office numbers are still awaited. According to reviews, however, the film is a great entertainer, and is promising to do well at the box office!
