There’s another slice-of-life entertainer coming your way! The director of ‘Luka Chuppi’, Laxman Utekar, is here with a brand new film starring Kriti Sanon and Pankaj Tripathi. The actress took to social media to share the first poster of ‘Mimi’, which is her next film.
Mimi is based on the topic of surrogacy, and is inspired by the subject of the Marathi film Mala Aai Vhaaychya. The Marathi entertainer had bagged the National Award for Best Film in Marathi in the year 2011. Mimi is being backed by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films and co-produced by Jio Studios. Dinesh Vijan spoke about Mimi, and said –
There’s a thrill in telling poignant stories and then there’s a thrill in telling ones that are based on true events. Mimi is one such tale. It’s a story that struck a chord with me, it explores a beautiful relationship between a woman who never wanted to be a mother and one who can’t wait to be one. What’s unexpected about the story is the humorous vein that runs through it and that’s what makes Mimi exciting.
Mimi reunites the much-loved actors Kriti Sanon and Pankaj Tripathi. The duo had worked together in Bareilly Ki Barfi, and were also recently seen in Luka Chhupi. Pankaj Tripathi had played the role of Kriti’s father in the former, while the actor portrayed the role of Kartik Aaryan’s nosy brother-in-law in the latter. The film is slated for a release sometime in 2020.
