Parineeti Chopra has officially replaced Shraddha Kapoor in the Saina Nehwal biopic. The biopic had been announced some time ago and shoots had been underway since September 2018. Shraddha Kapoor had been undergoing rigorous training from Badminton master Pullela Gopichand himself. According to sources, however, Shraddha Kapoor had to quit the film due to her busy schedule. Hence, the makers approached Parineeti to star in the film instead.
“We want to wrap up Saina by this year-end for an early 2020 release, so going ahead with the project is a decision taken by mutual consent. We are glad Parineeti has come on board for the film,” said Bhushan Kumar. Bhushan Kumar took to Twitter to confirm the news, welcoming Parineeti on board.

Talking about working for the film, Parineeti Chopra said she was really keen to do a sports-based film. “I was dying to do a sports-based film. It is a part of my personality as an actor that I have never explored, and I am so happy that I get to portray a strong and powerful girl like Saina.” said Parineeti Chopra. “She has put our country on the world map, and I excited to put in all the training and hard work that comes with learning the game of Badminton and portraying Saina on screen,” added the actress.
The film is being shot by director of Stanley ka Dabba, Amole Gupte. Saina Nehwal’s biopic is being produced by Bhushan Kumar from T-Series. Slated for a release in the same year as the Olympics, the film is expected to be ready by early 2020.
