We’ve seen him don the hat of a filmmaker, we’ve seen him romance Bollywood actresses on-screen. We’ve seen him jive to the most memorable of Bollywood songs, and we’ve seen him choreograph some of the most iconic on-screen moves Bollywood has ever witnessed!
Prabhu Deva recently received the prestigious Padma Shri award for his contributions to the entertainment industry, and has a connection rooted deep into the crevices of the industry – having worked with the likes of Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Ajay DevGn, Sonakshi Sinha and so many more!
Born to a popular South Indian film choreographer Mugur Sundar, Prabhu Deva has undergone several years of training as a classical Bharatnatyam style-dancer. The dance stalwart even runs his own dance company in Singapore! Seeing his moves opposite Madhuri Dixit in Kay Sera Sera from the movie Pukar – everyone would want to learn the moves from the master.
This song was probably one of the most iconic Prabhu Deva moments in Bollywood. After all, there’s a reason he’s referred to as the ‘Michael Jackson’ of India!
It was exactly 10 years ago, in the year 2009, that Prabhu Deva donned the directorial hat to work with the most-coveted star, none other than Salman Khan! The film Wanted, which was directed by Prabhu Deva himself went on to do brilliantly at the box-office. This proved that there was nothing that was out of reach for the multi-talented Prabhu Deva.
Bollywood industry stalwarts are all praises for Prabhu Deva. Farah Khan, who has worked with the star in Happy New Year says, “I am Prabhu Deva’s biggest fan. I think he is the sweetest and most humble person in the industry.” While working for the same film, King Khan himself also effusively praised the South Indian star.
He took to Twitter and said, “Too much fun to see Prabhu Deva sir move on the dance floor. Thank you for lighting up happy New Year. Love and respect sir.”
