Priyanka Chopra Receives Humanitarian Award & Dedicates It To Her Mother

Priyanka Chopra was recently honoured by UNICEF with Danny Kaye Humanitarian Award. “Giving back is no longer a choice. Giving back has to be a way of life,” said the actor, who has been a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for more than a decade, after accepting the honour.

“Growing up in India,” Chopra Jonas recalled, “my parents were doctors in the Indian Army and iterated the importance of giving back. They taught me that whatever we had was considered a privilege. My mother taught me to use my privilege in the service of others,” she added. Priyanka Chopra’s mother Madhu Akhouri Chopra was also present at the occasion.

Taking to her Instagram stories, the actor expressed immense gratitude toward her mother, “Mom this is what you inculcated in me from the beginning. I hope I made you proud.” In the next story, Madhu Chopra could be seen hugging her daughter as the gathering applauded for her. “Nothing makes me happier than getting a proud mama hug,” wrote Priyanka Chopra.

“I am in awe of the tireless efforts and unwavering commitment of the people who work for #UNICEF. Thank you for allowing me to be part of this journey. To serve as your Goodwill Ambassador is the privilege of my life,” writes Priyanka Chopra as she shares a glimpse from the UNICEF Snowflake Ball. Hosted at Cirpriani Wall Street, the event gathered many to raise $4.95 million to help save countless children through immunization, nutrition, protection, and education.

Husband Nick Jonas was inspired, he took to the comments section to express the same, “So inspired by you everyday. Congratulations beautiful,” he wrote.

The singer even posted a picture of his wife from the event, writing, “So proud of who you are and the good you’ve brought into the world as a goodwill ambassador with @unicef @unicefindia for over 15 years now. You inspire me every single day by just being you. Congratulations my love.”
