Irrfan Khan, who passed away on April 29 after a two year long battle with cancer, was last seen in Homi Adajania’s film ‘Angrezi Medium’ which also starred Radhika Madan.
When asked to share her experience of working with Irrfan Khan in Angrezi Medium, the actor said, “He is an institution in himself, I believe. You know, he is ‘The Irrfan Khan’. So what I used to do, I used to just observe him. How he ate, how he spoke with Homi (filmmaker), how he approached the scene, so you know, I used to just observe him. There’s no particular incident. I was a really good student on set because I was the youngest. I was working with such amazing actors. So I used to be with my script and within myself.”
Radhika Madan further added, “You know he was, he had such an amazing energy on set. Nobody could say he’s not well or you know he’s recovering from whatever he was recovering from. Whenever he was on set, there was some positivity. Everybody used to enjoy themselves. They used to enjoy doing the scenes so much together. That is something I’ll keep with myself.”
Looking nostalgic, Radhika Madan shared that her favourite scenes from the film remain one where she’s tells Irrfan “Maa hoti toh samjh jaati”. “That scene is really close to my heart, second, the climax of the film, where the two converse in a car.
After news of his demise broke, fans and his Bollywood friends, colleagues and former co-stars took to social media to mourn the actor’s death. Radhika Madan had shared, “I don’t know what to say… my heart aches when I write this. He was one the strongest people I knew, a fighter. And so are Sutapa ma’am, Babil and Ayan. I’m just grateful that our paths crossed in this lifetime. He is and will always be an inspiration to many. A legend. The man who changed the wave of the Indian film industry. May his soul rest in peace.”
