Rajinikanth’s First Look For ‘Darbar’ Seems Like He Is The Ultimate Cop

Rajinikanth, aka Thalaiva, is all set to return to the silver screen! After 2.0 and Petta, Rajinikanth has signed on his latest film, ‘Darbar’. The film is scheduled to release on Pongal 2020, and will see the superstar don the uniform of a cop after 25 years!

Darbar, earlier titled as Thalaivar 167, appears to be a cop drama. Rajinikanth is seen surrounded by all the elements that comprise a police thriller; such as the quintessential helmet, belt, shoulder badge, and rifle. The Gateway of India is also seen in the background, thereby implying that the film might be based in the city of dreams. All these details are based entirely on premise, as the filmmakers have kept other details under wraps.

Darbar is the first time Rajinikanth is collaborating with filmmaker AR Murugadoss, and has been produced by Lyca Productions. Murugadoss and Rajinikanth will be collaborating for the second time this time, after Petta. Rajinikanth will be paired opposite Nayanthara, however the rest of the cast remains undecided. This will be the third time Rajinikanth is working with the actress, after having previously worked in films like Chandramukhi and Kuselan.

Rajinikanth has broken the norm of doing only a single film a year, as he has signed three films after he joined politics in the year 2017. The film is expected to go on floors later this week in Mumbai. Rajinikanth has also previously shot in the city for his film Kaala.
