Farhan Akhtar and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra announced their next film ‘Toofan’, which has the actor-director collaborating for the first time in six years. On being asked in a recent interview with GoodTimes, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra said he would reveal all about his film in good time. He also said that the film’s crew would start shooting in August. “I think we start shooting in August. The script is by Anjum Rajabali. It’s a beautiful, very heartfelt story. Right now the casting process is on,” revealed Rakeysh in the interview with GoodTimes. On being asked whether it is a film about boxing or a biopic, he clarified, “It’s a love story based on a fictitious character”
When Rakeysh was questioned about casting Dilli 6 actress Sonam Kapoor in his film Toofan, the director revealed, “We haven’t casted completely on Toofan, the characters are still emerging. Once the characters are completely out there, then we like to work on the casting.”
Farhan Akhtar and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra are working together on this film after their film Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. The film was lauded for noteworthy performances by audiences and critics alike. On being asked about the relationship Rakeysh shares with the actor, he said, “With Farhan I am working after six years.” He further explained how the process of collaborating is a slow and steady one, and how it takes time for the director-actor relationship to build. “It takes you a couple of films to understand each other,” said Rakeysh.
