The next offering from the house of Dharma, ‘Takht’ will go on the floors in December 2019. Rumours were rife the film, a period drama, would get delayed post the failure of ‘Kalank’. However, Karan Johar gave a sneak peek of preps underway – silencing the rumour mills that the project was well underway.

Actress Kareena Kapoor Khan too confirmed the news, saying that she would start work on it in December and was happy to be directed by Karan Johar – 18 years after Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham.
The film also stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor – the film’s first look had been shared on social media a while ago.
Set during the Mughal era, the film will showcase the rivalry between Aurangzeb, to be played by Vicky Kaushal and his brother Dara Shikoh to be played by Ranveer Singh. Kareena Kapoor will essay the role of Aurangzeb’s sister Jahan Ara. Takht will hit screens in 2020.
