Throwback Thursday came in a day early – a social media campaign started by Twinkle Khanna has got everyone nostalgic. #WhyTheGap is a campaign working towards raising awareness about children’s health, well-being, education, and gender disparity. The actress-turned-writer took to social media to share a picture of herself from her school days. She nominated three other prominent names in Bollywood, including husband Akshay Kumar, to do the same to popularize to the campaign. In no time, a flurry of celebrity pictures from the celebrities’ school days. 1. Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar was the first to follow in his wife Twinkle’s footsteps. The actor shared a childhood picture of his from his old school days, saying that he was always inclined towards sports. He narrated how his mother would ensure that they got nutritious home-cooked meals to fuel the same passion – a passion which every child of India deserves.

Twinkle Khanna started her post on a witty note, commenting on how similar her own hairstyle looked vis-a-vis her class teacher’s! Dia Mirza has championed for environment in her role as the UN Goodwill Ambassador, and the actress was quite vocal when it came to speaking about education as well. She shared a picture of herself from her childhood, saying that she had the privilege of living under a roof while a whopping 2 million children in India are still living on the streets.

Tahira Kashyap thanked Twinkle Khanna for nominating her in the challenge, and then she took to the platform to share an anecdote from her school days. She also shared the fact that her short film Toffee was also inspired by the same fact that one in every three women in India is married off before the age of 18.
