‘Saare Jahaan Se Achcha’ is the biopic based on the life of Rakesh Sharma, the astronaut who was the first Indian citizen to travel into space. The film was scheduled for shooting in March with Shah Rukh Khan at the helm of the project. But now, the film’s shoot has been preponed and starts immediately!
The biopic is being produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur, and reportedly has Mahesh Mithai as the director of the project. Bhumi Pednekar is the female lead, and the film goes to the floors as soon as possible.
The film is set to capture in celluloid the moment in history where Prime Minister Indira Gandhi asked Rakesh Sharma how the country looked from outer space, to which Rakesh Sharma replied, ‘Saare Jahaan Se Achcha’. This is the story behind the title, and how the film got its name.
Could it be that Shah Rukh Khan wants to make good the losses that ‘Zero’ faced? Well, one can only speculate.
