Tabu Is A Treat To The Eyes In Comedy Thriller ‘Andhadhun’

As someone who has made a name for herself as Bollywood’s finest performers, Tabu has always been drawn to characters that are layered and demand more from her as an artiste. It’s hard to imagine ‘Maqbool’, ‘Chandni Bar’ and ‘Astitva’ without Tabu who believes that grey characters are closer to how humans are in real life. And now with Tabu’s recent black comedy thriller hitting the screens, we wonder what’s there in store for us. Is it what Bollywood has to offer with Tabu; a less sugary actress or will we see a whole new avatar all together?

Tabu, who plays a big shot widow in Andhadhun is nothing less than her image of a concentrated, poised, intense woman. With her chameleonsque talent, the actress steals the show in every frame. Her experience and skill are put to great use as she plays a woman with many faces, a creature with a steely grit, capable of vileness, yet in position of all human vulnerability, still yet capable of discussing the foulest of her actions with such casualness that it is impossible to not laugh. Tabu switching from one emotion to another with her face and voice in full contrast is a sight to behold.

Talking to Goodtimes, Tabu said that the coming together of director Sriram Raghavan and her character in ‘Andhadhun’ was a ‘fantastic’ reason for her to work in the film. When approached with the script, the actress found her role ‘edgy and crazy’ and immediately got into it. Tabu further revealed that she always wanted to work with Sriram Raghavan because of his ‘different’ mind and which of course suits the Bollywood superstar’s style.

If you are planning to watch Andhadhun, make sure you reach on time to watch the old-fashioned credits  along with the bizarre statements accompanying them and also the tribute to Vividh Bharti’s ‘Chhaya Geet’ and Doordarshan’s ‘Chitrahar’. Everything counts, as does every minute, second and millisecond of the unpredictable, crazy ride that follows.
