‘Toofan Uthega’ Says Farhan Akhtar About His Next Big Release

“Toofan Uthega!! FIRST LOOK! #Toofan releasing 2nd October 2020!!” wrote Farhan Akhtar in his caption to the post. Farhan can be seen doing an upper-cut punch in a boxing ring in the poster of the film. Toofan is a fictional story based on the life of a boxer, and it is being directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. The film also has actors Mrunal Thakur and Paresh Rawal alongside Farhan. The actor had earlier posted on his Instagram profile, telling followers to stay tuned and watch out for something coming their way.

The film marks the second collaboration between Farhan Akhtar and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, after having worked together in the super successful biopic Bhaag Milkha Bhaag in 2013. In an earlier interview with Goodtimes, director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra had revealed that Toofan is a ‘love story’ based on a fictitious character, and not a biopic, contrary to people’s expectations. “With Farhan I am working after six years.” He further explained how the process of collaborating is a slow and steady one, and how it takes time for the director-actor relationship to build. “It takes you a couple of films to understand each other,” said Rakeysh.

Toofan releases on October 2, 2020 and will clash with John Abraham-starrer Satyamev Jayate 2 at the box office. Farhan Akhtar will also be seen with Priyanka Chopra in The Sky Is Pink, which is releasing worldwide on October 11, 2019.
