‘Human Computer’ Shakuntala Devi is an inspiration for many, thanks to her mathematical prowess. And now, her life and works are being made into a biopic with Vidya Balan in the lead role. The filming had begun in London, and Vidya Balan just shared her first look as Shakuntala Devi on her social media handle –
Vidya Balan can be seen wearing a red sari and jhumkis in her look as the mathematician, and she sports a bob cut as well. She is seen standing on the podium finish, at the first position, and beating a computer and a calculator with her math skills. “Excitement is multiplying each day! Time to dig into the ‘root’ of the mathematical genius Shakuntala Devi. Filming Begins,” wrote Vidya Balan sharing the first look. The internet went crazy about her first look from the film, and here are some of the reaction from other celebrities-
Vidya Balan had revealed her excitement about playing the math whiz on the silver screen in an interview with PTI–
I am extremely excited to play the ‘human computer’ Shakuntala Devi on the big screen. She was truly someone who embraced her individuality, had a strong feminist voice and braved many a naysayer to reach the pinnacle of success. But what truly fascinates me is that you wouldn’t normally associate a fun person with math…and she completely turns that perception on its head.
Vidya Balan also shared a small teaser of the film, with an insight into the mind of the child prodigy Shakuntala Devi. Shakuntala Devi had solved a math problem for an 18-year-old at the mere age of 5. She had earned a place in the 1982 Guiness Book of World Records. She was also referred to as the ‘Human Computer’ for her extraordinarily quick problem-solving and numerical abilities.
She was extraordinary, in every sense of the word! Know the story of the child prodigy & the human computer, #ShakuntalaDevi @sonypicsprodns @Abundantia_Ent @anumenon1805 @vikramix @SnehaRajani pic.twitter.com/P2PAqPp5Tt
