Zoya Akhtar To Direct Series Based On Shweta Bachchan’s Book ‘Paradise Towers’

There’s nothing new about books being turned into films, and now with OTT platforms giving filmmakers the freedom to express without censorship – boundaries are being pushed in terms of quality of content. So it’s safe to say that it’s a good time to ‘watch’ some of our favourite books.

Zoya Akhtar, however, isn’t making a film based on a book. She, in fact, is turning Shweta Bachchan Nanda’s Paradise Towers into a series. Yes, reports suggest Zoya has collaborated with Ashok Amritraj’s Hyde Park Entertainment Asia – to direct the aforementioned project.

Not just Zoya – leading filmmakers such as Anurag Kashyap, Gurinder Chaddha, Imtiaz Ali and Nagesh Kukunoor will all be helming films and series based on various books, including Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni’s 2003 young adult fantasy novel – Conch Bearer, Nidhi Chanani’s graphic novel Pashmina, andSuketu Mehta’s Maximum City.
