Junny talks about his first Studio album ‘blanc’, his inspiration behind creating ‘blanc’, collaborating with Jay-B, the k-pop band NCT, future collaboration with Indian artists and more in an exclusive conversation with GOODTiMES’ Puja Talwar.
The Korean-Canadian musician, Junny, released his first full-length record, ‘blanc’ on August 12, 2022. Junny made his debut in 2017 as a singer and only released mini-albums and singles before ‘blanc’. ‘blanc’ consists of nine songs with Junny featuring in the music video for ‘Not About You’. Apart from ‘Not About You’, the album is a reflection of Junny’s versatile range where he touches on various emotional aspects of a relationship using heartwarming lyrics.
Talking about ‘blanc’, Junny says, “This album is called ‘blanc’ for many reasons, but most importantly, I wanted to talk about myself. I am a blank canvas, and meeting new people lets me fill that blank canvas with certain colors. It’s another expression of having an expression.”
On being asked about his collaboration with Jay-B, NCT and working on Nostalgia, Junny says, “I was such a fan of these artists. Everywhere you go, you see their music and listen to them, and I naturally became their fan. Especially artists like IU, I became a fan before even moving to Korea. Talking about Jay-B he adds, “Jay-B is one of the greatest artists and he was able to work with me without hesitation, I am so thankful for that!”
Junny also opens up about future collaborations with Indian artists like Armaan Malik and Amaal Mailk. He says that he’s open to listening to Indian artists’ songs as keeps looking for inspiration and would love to collaborate with them.
