Ann Sarnoff Is Making History With Her New Role At Warner Brothers

It’s been a tough time for Warner Bros. as the entertainment company was without a CEO for the last three months after Kevin Tsujihara was fired. However, the company’s hunt for a new CEO has ended with an unlikely replacement, someone who wasn’t even on the list of ‘usual suspects’.

Warner Bros. is currently undergoing a period of major restructuring under WarnerMedia CEO John Stankey, who appointed Ann Sarnoff as the entertainment company’s brand new CEO and chairwoman. This marks the first time in the company’s history that the key position is being held by a woman. Sarnoff previously served as the President of BBC Studios America after working for the likes of Dow Jones and WNBA. The newly appointed CEO is expected begin her services later this summer.

Ann Sarnoff will run one of the industry’s largest production operations including films, video games and consumer products. The studio has been through rough times recently following the exit of Tsujihara and the inevitable changes that came along after AT&T acquired Time Warner, which is now renamed WarnerMedia. But the biggest challenge the newly appointed CEO will be facing the competing with the likes of Netflix and Amazon as WarnerMedia is also readying to launch a streaming service of its own. It’ll be quite interesting to see in which direction Warner Bros. is headed to with Sarnoff at the helm. Especially since her predecessor left in such disgrace!
