Raped At 15, Cheated Upon By Ashton Kutcher – Demi Moore Bares It All In New Memoir

Demi Moore is just days away from launching her memoir Inside Out. And during two recent interviews, the actor-producer-model gave us an insight into her memoir as she shared deeply personal stories about the highs and lows of her nomadic life, past relationships, how she overcame addiction and her ascent to fame amid life’s pitfalls. 56-year-old Moore was quotes saying, “It’s exciting, and yet I feel very vulnerable. There is no cover of a character. It’s not somebody else’s interpretation of me”.

One vivid memory the Moore said her memoir includes was when she was just 12 and had to stop one of her mother’s suicide attempts. She talked in length about the time she had to dig pills out of her mother’s mouth, who had overdosed herself. She wrote in her book, “Something very deep inside me shifted then, and it never shifted back. My childhood was over”. In the book, Moore also reportedly writes about being raped at age 15 and moving out of her mother’s house a year later.

Demi Moore also sheds light on marrying musician Freddy Moore at the age of 16, right after leaving her parents’ home. The marriage, however, didn’t last long as the two separated after five years of tying the knot. She said, “When I was younger, I was obligated to be of service. I wouldn’t be loved if I wasn’t… if I didn’t give of myself. My value was tied into my body”. She further added that this attitude towards her sexuality is perhaps what drew her to roles like General Hospital, Blame It on Rio, and About Last Night which presented her as an object of desire or “required her to appear unclothed”.

Demi Moore also claimed her relationship with Freddy Moore led her to abuse alcohol and cocaine, and to start binge-eating and obsessing over her weight, which she later tackled through a rehab program for trauma, co-dependency, and substance abuse. Moore got sober for the first time in her 20s, relapsed in her 40s and regained that sobriety in her 50s. She wrote in her memoir, “Part of being sober is, I don’t want to miss a moment of life, of that texture, even if that means being in some pain”.

Elsewhere in the memoir, she delves into her marriages with actors Bruce Willis and Ashton Kutcher; Moore married Willis in 1987 and the couple had three kids together before calling it quits in 2000. After five years of her divorce with Willis, she married Kutcher in 2005. In Inside Out, Moore revealed that dating Kutcher gave her an opportunity to “go back in time and experience what it was like to be young”. However, things took a dark turn when she suffered a miscarriage which led to Moore abusing alcohol and Vicodin. She struggled with substance abuse before learning that Kutcher allegedly cheated on her, and the couple parted ways in 2013. Though Moore’s memoir details her marriage to Kutcher, she told told in her interview that there are no villains.

As of now, Demi Moore said she is focused on building a stronger relationship with her children. She added that her three daughters, Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah, each read the book before it was complete, and were given the chance to ask for revisions, but none did. In spite of all, Demi Moore never stopped shining and hasn’t lost a beat; she’s indeed a reckoning force and an inspiration to many.

Inside Out hits the bookshelves on September 24 just days after her new movie, Corporate Animals hits the screens on September 20.
