The Hunger Games Series Is Getting A Prequel, And This Is What You Need To Know!

If you think your adventures in Panem are done and dusted, you’re in for a surprise. After more than 10 years since author Suzanne Collins published the first book of the Hunger Games trilogy, she is set to publish another novel, a prequel that is set decades before the original trilogy.

The untitled project, set to release on May 19 2020, will be set in the world of Panem, 64 years before the events of the original Hunger Games tales. The book will revisit the capital city during a period known as the ‘Dark Days’, in which the nation struggles to get back to feet after a devastating war. This means, the new Hunger Games book will take place long before the lifetimes of Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark and the majority of the characters.

Four films were based on the trilogy of novels, which sold more than 100 million copies and once again, Lionsgate hopes to adapt the book for the big screen. Although the studio is yet to announce and confirm the making of the prequel, it’s actively working with Collins throughout the writing process.
