Watch: Michael B. Jordan & Brie Larson In Pursuit Of Justice In The Just Mercy Trailer

Seeking truth and justice is never easy, and that’s at the heart of ‘Just Mercy’, an upcoming drama by director Destin Daniel Cretton. Starring Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Foxx and Brie Larson, the movie follows the story of a Harvard attorney who takes up cases in hopes of overturning wrongful convictions. And judging by the trailer teaser that dropped recently, ‘Just Mercy’ promises to strike a chord with audiences.

Michael B. Jordan plays the role of young lawyer Bryan Stevenson who teams up with Brie Larson’s Eva Ansley, who is already been advocating for wrongfully convicted local Alabamians. The stories pick pace when the two take on their hands the case of Walter McMillan played by Jamie Foxx. McMillan is a man on death row for a murder that has little to no evidence tying him to the crime. Based on true events, the 1987 case became one of Stevenson’s best known cases and represents a landmark trial in Alabama, sparking a series of legal and social battles over race and the legitimacy of the court.

With two Academy Awards and one of Hollywood’s most promising young actors leading the cast, it seems ‘Just Mercy’ will be a major contender in the coming awards season. The film is based on Stevenson’s novel Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption, which won a number of awards, including the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence and an NAACP Image Award.

Just Mercy’ is expected to have a limited release on Christmas this year before finally hitting the screens in January 2020.
