The First Look Of Mrs. America Will Transport You To The ’70s Era Of Feminism

American Horror Story, American Crime Story and now Mrs. America- FX Networks is clearly going all in for all things U.S.A. The American network revealed the first look of the upcoming miniseries Mrs. America and they’re all-star studded. The ensemble cast is led by Oscar winner Cate Blanchett as Phyllis Schlafly and will also feature Rose Byrne as Gloria Steinem, Uzo Aduba as Shirley Chisholm, Sarah Paulson as Alice, and Elizabeth Banks as Jill Ruckelshaus.

Mrs. America follows the true story of the rise of feminism in America and the legal battle over the Equal Rights Amendment of the 1970s along with the push back by conservative Phyllis Schlafly. Schlafly waged a campaign against the passage of the ERA as well as against the legalization of abortion and the gay rights movement. The show further explores how the course of history was changed from the rise of the Moral Majority in the ’70s through the eyes of the women from the era — Gloria Steinem, Shirley Chisholm, Bella Abzug and Jill Ruckelshaus.
