In exactly one month, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is not only bringing an end to the new trilogy that began in 2015’s The Force Awakens; it will also serve as a final chapter to the Skywalker Saga that began with 1977’s A New Hope. And now, ahead of the film’s release, a new teaser has been dropped on Instagram alongside a new poster which has been revealed exclusively at Dolby Cinema theatre screenings.
The footage on Instagram includes a shot of Rey confronting Darth Vader’s mask, leaping out of a ship’s hangar, a closer look at those Stormtrooper desert bikes, and more. The new poster shows Poe Dameron’s X-Wing flying into the battle of his life, facing down an entire army of Star Destroyers.
Both the teaser and the poster appear to tease the epic battle between the Resistance and the First Order that the film’s previous trailers have already shown us glimpses of. Directed and co-written by J.J. Abrams, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Keri Russell, Anthony Daniels, Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams and Carrie Fisher, with Naomi Ackie and Richard E. Grant.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is scheduled for release on December 20.
